Whitesnake: 1978 - Snakebite

A pesar de que en las giras, Coverdale, nombraba a los miembros de la banda como "The White snake band", la banda no se llamó así oficialmente, hasta 1978. Siendo éste, el primer EP de la banda.
Micky Moody, se mantenía en la alineación, y con Coverdale formaron la banda (desde la banda de David Coverdale). El resto de la banda era el guitarrista Bernie Marsden, el bajista Neil Murray, el baterista David Dowle y el teclista Brian Johnston, quien se retira y fue reemplazado por Pete Solley.

Whitesnake: 1978 - Trouble

El disco debut de la banda fue éste. Y tuvo unas fuertes influencias de Led Zeppelin y Free. En los teclados de la grabación, estuvo presente Jon Lord. Los temas más trascendentes del disco fueron Take me with you, Trouble, Lie down y el cover a The Beatles: Day Tripper.

Whitesnake: 1979 - Lovehunter

Ésta portada causó mucha controversia... Por lo menos, no la censuraron.
Lovehunter, gozó de más éxito que Trouble. Y el tema que más alto llegó del disco fue: Long way from home.
Al poco tiempo después, David Dowle fue reemplazado por Ian Paice, así, Whitesnake, quedaba con tres ex-miembros de Deep purple.

La nueva alineación de la banda, grabó éste disco que fue el disco mas exitoso de la banda, en aquella época. El disco incluye Fool for your loving, tema que había sido escrito para B.B. King.

Cuando Coverdale volvió, hubo cambios en gran parte de los miembros. Marsden fue reemplazado por Mel Galley (Trapeze fame), Murray por Colin Hodgkinson, y Cozy Powell sería el nuevo baterista.

Se incluyen los temas Slow an' easy, Love ain't no stranger y Slide it in. Luego, Coverdale hace otro cambio de miembros. Moody era reemplazado por John Sykes, y volvía Neil Murray, reemplazando a Hodgkinson.
Cozy Powell deja la banda, para formar parte de Emerson, Lake & Powell. Siendo reemplazado por Aynsley Dunbar (Journey y Jefferson Starship).

Whitesnake: 1987 - Whitesnake 1987

En éste disco se nota un gran cambio en el sonido de la banda. Luego, Sykes, Murray y Aynsley Dunbar fueron despedidos. Mientras que Adrian Vandenberg, sólo se encargó de los solos de Here I go again.
Los éxitos del disco fueron: Is this love, la regrabación de Here I go again (originalmente en el disco Saints & sinners), Still of the night y Give me all your love.
Los nuevos miembros de la banda, que se aparecieron en los videos fueron Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne), Tommy Aldridge (Ozzy Osbourne) y Vivian Campbell (Dio).
También, era común ver a la actriz Tawny Kitaen, quien luego contraería matrimonio con Coverdale.

Whitesnake: 1989 - Slip of the tongue

La alineación volvió a cambiar, cuando Vivian Campbell deja la banda el 1988 (después forma parte de Def Leppard). Mientras se preparaban para grabar, Adrian Vandenberg sufrió una lesión, y no le fue posible participar en las sesiones. En su reemplazo, fue llamado Steve Vai.
Los éxitos del disco fueron The deeper the love, Now you're gone y la regrabación de Fool for your loving.

Luego de publicado éste disco, la banda se vuelve a reformar, con Warren DeMartini (Ratt) en la guitarra, Denny Carmassi en la batería. Adrian Vandenberg retorna a la banda. Paul Mirkovich tras los teclados.

En conmemoración a los 25 años de la banda, ésta se reforma en 2003.
Doug Aldrich (guitarra), Reb Beach (guitarra), Marco Mendoza (bajo), Tommy Aldridge (bateria) y Timothy Drury (teclados). Hasta el 2005, se mantuvo la alineación, hasta que Mendoza se retira, para formar parte del proyecto Soul SirkUS, siendo reemplazado por Uriah Duffy.
Éste disco incluye grabaciones en vivo desde el 2003 hasta el 2006. También unos temas nuevos.

Whitesnake vuelve al estudio, publicando en el año 2011 su entrega titulada Forevermore, pero con un notorio cambio (o agotamiento) en la voz de Coverdale. Como para algunos puede parecer un cambio favorable, para mí no lo fue. Aunque instrumentalmente, conserva perfectamente la identidad del grupo.
