Bon jovi: 1984 - Bon jovi

El miembro fundador, Jon bon jovi, llega de tocar piano y la guitarra de su primera banda, llamada Raze. A los 16 años, Jon conoce a David Bryan y forman la banda Atlantic city expressway, luego New Jersey highway. Ellos tocaron en clubes de Nueva Jersey.

Aún joven, Jon tocaba en la banda John Bongiovi and the wild ones.

A mediados del 1982, Jon encuentra un trabajo en Power station studios, donde trabajaba su primo, Tony Bongiovi. Jon hizo algunos demos (incluyendo uno producido por Billy Squier) y luego de enviarlos, ninguno dio los frutos esperados.

En 1983, Bon jovi visitó la estación de radio local, WAPP. Donde el DJ Chip Hobart le recomienda a Jon incluir el tema Runaway en una compilación de talentos locales. Los músicos que ayudaron a Bon jovi, para grabar el tema eran los llamados The all star review. Ellos eran: los guitarristas Dave Sabo (posteriormente en Skid row) y Tim Pierce, en los teclados Roy Bittan, el baterista Frankie LaRocka y el bajista Hugh McDonald.

La canción comienza a estar al aire en el lugar, luego en otras estaciones de radio.

En marzo de 1983 Bon jovi llamó a David Bryan, quien llamó al bajista Alec John Such y al baterista Tico Torres. Richie Sambora se convirtió en el guitarrista de la banda. Antes de ingresar a la banda, había estado en gira con Joe Cocker, tocó en una banda llamada Mercy, y en el álbum Lessons de la banda Message y fue llamado para una audición de KISS. Tico Torres también tenía experiencia, habiendo grabado y tocado en vivo con Phantom's opera, The marvelettes y Chuck Berry. Apareció en 26 grabaciones con Franke and the knockouts. David Bryan se retiró de la banda, para estudiar medicina, pero se dio cuenta que quería dedicarse a la música a tiempo completo y fue aceptado en la escuela de música Juilliard school. Cuando Jon lo llama, el acudió a los llamados.

Cuando la banda empieza a tocar en locales, empiezan a llamar la atención del ejecutivo Derek Shulman. Y como la banda, aún no tenía nombre, Jerry Jaffe, los llamó Bon Jovi.

Con la ayuda de su nuevo manager, Doc McGhee, el álbum debut de la banda, Bon Jovi, salió a la venta en enero de 1984.

Bon Jovi: 1994 - Cross road

En 1994, Bon Jovi saca a la venta sus grandes éxitos, álbum titulado Cross road, con dos nuevas canciones: Always y Someday I'll be saturday night. La canción Always, originalmente fue escrita para la banda sonora de la película Romeo is bleeding, pero después de haber visto la película, y de no agradarles, la banda decide no hacerlo.

Ese mismo año, el bajista Alec John Such deja la banda. Hugh McDonald, quien había sido bajista en Runaway, de forma no oficial lo reemplaza. Jon Bon Jovi dijo al respecto: "Por supuesto que duele. Pero aprendí a aceptarlo y a respetarlo. El hecho es que soy muy trabajólico, en el estudio y fuera de él, en el escenario y fuera de él, quiero ocuparme de la música día y noche, no significa que todos los demás tengan que acostumbrarse a ése ritmo. Alec quería retirarse, así que no llegó como una completa sorpresa."

Luego de reagruparse, la banda trabajó en éste disco, Crush, que tuvo mucho éxito. Éxito que en gran parte se lo deben al tema It's my life, co-escrito por el productor Max Martin. Tambien incluye los éxitos Say it isn't so y Thank you for loving me. Luego el disco se convertiría en el álbum de estudio más exitoso desde Keep the faith.
