White lion: 1985 - Fight to survive

Mike Tramp, en 1982, viaja desde Dinamarca hasta Nueva york y conoce al guitarrista Vito Bratta (ex-Dreamer) y deciden formar la banda. Reclutaron al baterista Nicki Capozzi y al bajista Felix Robinson (quien formaba parte de la banda Angel) y llamaron a ésta nueva banda White lion.

White Lion, en 1983, tuvo un problema con su discográfica, por la calidad de la grabación de Fight to survive. Lo que provocó que terminaran contrato.

Capozzi y Robinson dejan la banda. Nicki Capozzi fue reemplazado por Greg D'Angelo (Anthrax) y Felix Robinson por el bajista Dave Spitz (hermano del guitarrista de Anthrax Dan Spitz). En menos de un mes Dave Spitz deja la banda para formar parte de Black sabbath y fue reemplazado por James LoMenzo.

Finalmente el álbum sale a la venta el 1985.

A principios de 1986, White Lion, con una miembro ficticia, tuvo una breve participación en la película de Tom Hanks/Shelley Long: The Money Pit.

White lion: 1987 - Pride

A principios de 1987, la banda cambia de sello (porque el anterior había quedado en la banca rota) y en junio sale a la venta su segundo album, Pride.

Su primer gran éxito lo tuvieron con la canción Wait, luego con Tell me, pero su más grande éxito lo obtuvieron con la balada When the children cry.

El éxito del tema, llevó al disco a ventas realmente elevadas. Agregando al éxito, Vito Bratta fue reconocido por sus talentos instrumentales con el premio de mejor guitarrista nuevo, en las revistas Guitar world y Guitar for the practicing musician.

Las armas de guerra de éste álbum fueron Little fighter, Cry for freedom y el cover de Golden earring's: Radar love.

White lion: 1991 - Mane attraction

Después de 2 años de escribir y grabar el álbum, sale a la venta Mane attraction. Durante las sesiones de grabación, fueron forzados por su sello para hacer exáctamente lo que ellos querían. El álbum falló en las ventas (en comparación a sus anteriores discos), por el auge del grunge.

Greg D'Angelo y James LoMenzo dejan la banda al poco tiempo, por "diferencias musicales", pero White Lion continúa con el bajista Tommy T-bone Caradonna y el baterista Jimmy DeGrasso (Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Suicidal Tendencies, Y&T, Fiona).

Luego de una breve gira, Tramp y Bratta deciden separarse en el mismo año.
