Gotthard: 1992 - Gotthard

Gotthard, se formó en 1990, en Suiza, por el ex-vocalista de Forsale, Steve Lee. En Forzale, conoció al guitarrista Leo Leoni.

Completaron la alineación con el ex-bajista de Stormbringer y China, Marc Lynn y el baterista Hena Habegger.

En 1992, antes de publicar su primer disco, la banda fue soporte de Magnum en Bretaña, y también abrieron para Victory en Alemania.

Para grabar su disco, se aliaron con el sello alemán Bmg ariola.

El resultado, fue uno de mis discos preferidos en su discografía, que cuenta con una especial fuerza en sus temas. Un claro ejemplo, puede ser Standing in the light. A ella, sumo su muy bien logrado cover de Deep purple, Hush, la espectacular balada Angel y Downtown.

Gotthard: 1994 - Dial hard

En 1993, contaron con la ayuda del guitarrista Igor Gianola.

En 1994, publicaron su segundo disco, titulado Dial hard. En la producción del disco, estuvo el bajista de Krokus, Chris Von Rohr y contó con la aparición en guitarras de Vivian Campbell, quien en esos años estaba en Def leppard.

Éste, fue el primero en alcanzar en número 1 en su país de origen. El disco incluye el excelente cover Come together, The beatles.

En 1995, dejaron de contar con la ayuda de Igor Gianola.

Gotthard: 1996 - G

En 1996, alcanzaron aún más éxito, después de la publicación de su siguiente entrega, titulada simplemente G.. Lograron vender todas sus entradas en su gira por Alemania, contando con el soporte de Royal hunt. También viajaron a Japón, promocionando su nuevo disco.

Su entrega, incluye los covers de Manfred Mann, Mighty quinn, y de The hollies, He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

Del disco, podría recomendar a Make my day, la excelente balada Let it be, Ride on y la espectacular balada acústica, One life, one soul.

Gotthard: 1997 - D frosted

Ingresa el guitarrista de Asia y Cobra, Mandy Meyer.

Grabaron su disco acústico, titulado D-frosted, que nuevamente alcanzó el número 1 en Suiza. Estuvo presente el guitarrista Vic Vergat. Como soporte de su disco, hicieron una gira junto a Monkey cab. Durante esas presentaciones, contaron con la participación de Montserrat Caballe.

El guitarrista Igor Gianola, ingresó a la banda U.d.o., en 1999.

En ese mismo año, dando un vuelco en su estilo, cambiando a un sonido mucho más maduro, publicaron el disco titulado Open.

En el año 2000, Leoni produjo el disco de Dc world.

Gotthard: 2001 - Homerun

En el año 2001, publicaron su disco titulado Homerun, con un sonido mucho más moderno, pero ya casi totalmente alejado del estilo enérgico de sus primeros discos. Cuenta con el cover a Andy Taylor, Take it easy.

Del disco, recomiendo Light in your eyes, Heaven, End of times, Say goodbye, Reason to live, Come along y Homerun.

Gotthard: 2002 - One life, one soul

Comenzando el 2002, publicaron el compilado de baladas titulado One life, one soul. El disco incluye el cover de Rollin' stones, Ruby tuesday y a Cobra, Looking at you, looking at me. Que terminó siendo su sexto número 1 en Suiza.

A mediados de año, la banda anuncia su quiebre de relaciones con su escritor de canciones y productor, Chris Von Rohr.

Gotthard: 2003 - Human zoo

Recobrando energías en sus canciones, publican Human zoo, en el año 2003. Nuevamente alcanzaron el número 1 en su país.

En marzo del 2004, Mandy Meyer abandona la banda.

A finales de año, la banda anuncia la creación de su propio sello, llamado G.point. Seguido de eso, publicaron el disco compilatorio One team, one spirit, incluyendo tres nuevas canciones.

Gotthard: 2005 - Lipservice

En diciembre del año 2004, firmaron contrato con el sello Nuclear blast, y comenzaron a grabar su siguiente entrega, que se publicaría al año siguiente, titulado Lipservice. También, recibieron el premio Diamond award, por el millón de ventas en Suiza.

Del disco recomiendo a Lift u up, Everything I want, Cupid arrow, I wonder, I've seen an angel cry, Stay of the night, Said and done y Nothing left at all. En resumen, un disco excelente, de principio a fin.

En abril del 2005, Steve Lee, junto a Marc Storace de Krokus y Gigi Moto, formaron un trío de corta duración, grabando alguna canción de Queen.

La banda, tuvo una presentación en el Reino unido, junto a la banda Octavia Sperati, como soporte.

Gotthard: 2006 - Made in Switzerland

En mayo, Gotthard publicó el disco en vivo Made in Switzerland, que le dio el décimo número uno en su país, venciendo a bandas como Tool y a Pearl jam, que habían sacado su disco en la misma semana.

En ese octubre, la banda salió de gira en el llamado Live n' louder festival, junto a Stratovarius, Black label society, Saxon, Nevermore, After forever, Primal fear y Sepultura, por México, Brasil y Argentina.

Su siguiente entrega, publicada en el año 2007, y titulada Domino effect, le dio nuevamente el número uno en su país.

Steve Lee, estuvo en la banda del teclista de Deep purple, Jon Lord, para algunas fechas por europa.

Gotthard: 2009 - Need to believe

Ya finalizando la historia del grupo, en el año 2009, publican su espectacular disco Need to believe. Lo único que puedo decir del disco, es que es perfecto y sin puntos débiles.

Lamentablemente, éste 5 de Octubre, llega a su fin la exitosa vida de Steve Lee, luego de un trágico accidente.

Gotthard: 2012 - Firebirth

Luego de la trágica partida de Steve Lee, Gotthard vio en Nic Maeder el potencial necesario para seguir en pie. Publicando así, su siguiente entrega en el año 2012, que se titularía Firebirth, el que terminaría siendo un muy buen disco, siguiendo casi perfectamente la línea que llevaban con Steve Lee.
