Harem scarem: 1991 - Harem scarem

Harem scarem es una excelente banda canadiense (mi preferida), que cuenta con el gran talento vocal de Harold (Harry) Hess, y unas letras excelentes por parte de la banda completa. Lamentablemente, a mi parecer, la banda no tuvo el verdadero reconocimiento que merecían.

Harold, con el baterista Darren Smith, habían sido miembros de la banda Blind vengeance, habiendo publicado el disco Taste of sin, en el año 1984.

Junto al ex guitarrista de Minotaur, Pete Lesperance y el bajista Mike Gionet, formaron Harem scarem.

Grabaron unos demos, que resultaron en un contrato con el sello Wea.

Para su primer disco, estuvo el miembro de Coney Hatch, Carl Dixon como invitado.

En el año 1992, Harem scarem ganó un lugar en la gira April wine.

Esta es mi discografía preferida entre todas y va dedicada a Blanca.

Harem scarem: 1996 - Live in Japan

El real reconocimiento de la banda, fue después de su primera gira por Japón, en el año 1995.

Hess y Lesperance fueron acreditados como productores en el disco Backwards, de Mystery, en el mismo año.

Barry Donaghy reemplazó a Mike Gionet en el disco en vivo Live in Japan.

Harem scarem: 1997 - Karma cleansing

Para el año siguiente, la banda grabó el disco Believe, pero fue reorganizado y retitulado a Karma cleansing por el mercado canadiense. El disco tuvo un importante éxito en Japón.

La suerte de la banda siguió siendo favorable en Japón, y en 1998 publican Big bang theory. Para ese mismo año, Hess y Lesperance aparecieron en el disco Body electric, de Fiore.

Harem scarem: 1999 - Rubber

En 1999, Harem scarem, tuvo un cambio en su sonido y lo demostró con su disco Rubber.

En ese entonces, los miembros de la banda se sintieron frustrados por no recibir un verdadero reconocimiento fuera de Japón, y cambiaron su nombre a Rubber, publicando el disco Ultra feel.

A mediados del año 2001, Hess y Lesperance resusitaron a Harem scarem, junto al bajista Barry Donaghy y el baterista Creighton Doane, firmando con el sello italiano Frontiers en junio.

A comienzos del año 2002, Hess ayudó escribiendo para la banda Starship.

Harem scarem estuvo en tierras inglesas en el festival Gods, en el evento español, Nemelrock y en unas fechas en Alemania, recibiendo el apoyo de la banda británica, Pulse.

Harem scarem: 2003 - Higher

En el año 2003, Harry Hess publicó su disco solista, titulado Just another day. El disco contó con la participación de sus colegas en Harem scarem, Pete Lesperance, Darren Smith y Creighton Doane.

El vocalista estuvo de invitado en el disco solista del guitarrista de Metalium y Savatage, Jack Frost, titulado Raise your fist to metal.

En abril del año 2004, Pete Lesperance publica en Japón su disco solista, titulado Down on it. Como invitado estaba Harry Hess y el guitarrista de Lady peace, Mike Turner.

Por otra parte, Harry Hess, apareció como vocalista en la canción Eternally, en el debut de la banda Warmachine, titulado The beginning of the end, mientras que otro miembro de Harem scarem, Darren Smith, vocalizó en el tema Eye for an eye.

Hess y Lesperance contribuyeron en disco debut de Billy Klippert. Disco que fue finalista en el llamado Canadian idol.

A finales del año, el baterista Creighton Doane se aventuró fuera de Harem scarem, publicando su disco solista, titulado Learning more & more about less & less.

A finales del año 2004, Darren Smith creó Black star, tomando el rol de vocalista junto al guitarrista de Helix y Killer Dwarfs, Mike Hall, el bajista de Honeymoon suite y Blood red flower, Stan Miczek y el baterista Pat Carrano. Su disco debut, lo produjo Harry Hess.

Harem scarem: 2005 - Overload

Para el año 2005, Harem scarem publicó el disco Overload, el que trajo el cover a Ac/dc, You shook me all night long, para la versión japonesa.

La banda tuvo una aparición en el llamado Firefest 2, junto a House of lords, Power quest, Saracen, Balance of power, Blue tears y Danger danger.

A finales del 2005, Pete Lesperance apareció en los temas Rise y Breathing doll, en el disco solista de Ted Poley, Collateral damage.

Para octubre del año 2006, la banda publica Human nature.

El 27 de octubre, aparecen en Firefest. Presentación que fue anunciada como la última.
